Over a thousand years of hospitality on the legendary Rhine

Founded around 950 AD

A living piece of German history

“More than a hotel — a chapter of the Rhine”

The Rhein-Hotel Krone is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in Germany. Its origins date back to around 950 AD, when Boppard was a thriving Roman town and the Rhine served as a vital lifeline for trade and travel in Europe.

Over the centuries, the hotel has welcomed emperors, merchants, poets, and pilgrims. Today, it continues this proud tradition — combining centuries of authentic hospitality with modern comfort, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Middle Rhine Valley.

The hotel’s distinctive name “Krone” (Crown) reflects its royal standing in the community — a true jewel of the Rhine, offering guests the rare opportunity to stay where history was made.
